One race pits school buses against each other while others require that cars be dragging other wheeled items behind them. There's a figure-8 track for constant crashes as well as some more bizarre entries. If these races aren't enough for you, there are plenty more to choose from. Having a dozen cars trying to spin a tight donut and speed off into the next stretch may sound good on paper if everyone was coordinating all nice-like, but in reality this adds up to insta-wrecks at nearly every pole.

Here, there are a couple of flagpoles along the track that need to be circled around once before continuing. The race that got us into the most collisions was easily the flagpole race. With so many cars racing at you as you're trying to turn around, this can be a big problem. Another race requires that cars race along and at the lap point they need to do a u-turn and head back in the other direction.

The first passing is easy enough with everyone in line, but this quickly devolves into a war zone as cars break up and pinball off of each other. One of the races calls for two groups of cars going around a lap in different directions. With this in mind many of the modes feature plenty of areas for a high-speed head-on collision. Winning the race is the only way to progress to the next level, but by hitting other cars and destroying them, points can be earned towards unlocking new cars, tracks, or modes. There is a huge variety of races that fill in the whole range from simple races around a track to the full-on demolition derby. With up to four cars available at a time, drivers will have to pick their stable carefully to show up to the Eve of Destruction, an in-game competition, in style. There are over 30 cars in all, including a cop car, a hearse, and a decommissioned school bus.

The gist of Eve of Destruction is to live out the country-fied dream of getting a collection of cars and then obliterating them in "races." New players start out in an old beater and by winning races and demolition derbies they'll be rewarded with new vehicles and money for repairs.
